How to Get Preludes Access

3:23 To play Soulframe now, sign up with an email at soulframe.com to enter the weekly random invite draw (2,000 invites a week), redeem a code a friend shares with you, or buy any Founders bundle for instant access; then log in and download Digital Extremes' launcher from soulframe.com. That is the rule as of Oct 21, 2026, until Open Preludes begins and anyone on PC can play without an invite. In Devstream 9 (Sep 12, 2025) a host asks what a newcomer should do, and the answer is the first step for every route: "Go to soulframe.com right now. Sign up", then link accounts in Account Management. Preludes is Soulframe's free pre-alpha on Windows PC; what the game is about is on Soulframe.

Sign up and the weekly draw

The free way in is the queue. Soulframe's home page says: "Sign up with your email to join the queue to enter Soulframe Preludes. We send new invitations to play every week". The draw is random: "Players signing up for the access queue are randomly drawn weekly", Digital Extremes wrote on Sep 18, 2026, and the FAQ says the studio is "returning to closed access and will continue sending out 2,000 invites per week to players who signed up after the cutoff time". Digital Extremes publishes no waiting time, so how long an invite takes depends on the draw; signing up also sets your Envoy name, which must follow the studio's Envoy Title policy.

Invite emails and friend codes

1:46 An invite arrives by email from no-reply@soulframe.com, and it includes codes to share. The FAQ: "These emails include codes you can share with friends", redeemed on soulframe.com's Redeem Code page. The developers say the same about Twitch Drop codes in Devstream 15 (May 29, 2026): "Watch for 30 minutes, get access to Soulframe. If you don't need that code, share it with a friend." If you signed up but cannot find the email, the FAQ suggests resetting your password, then contacting Support.

58:46 A code is redeemed on soulframe.com, not in the game. On Envoy Hour #6 (Nov 5, 2025), Sarah Asselin explains that once you have a Twitch Drop code "it will be in your account management page on soulframe.com. And you just redeem it on our promo codes page and that is how you play."

Founders: instant access

0:11 Buying any Founders bundle gives "Instant Access to Soulframe Preludes", plus 2 friend codes in each Wyld bundle and 10 in Paragon. In the "Founders FAQ with Steve and Sarah" (Nov 19, 2025), Steve Sinclair says you get it at soulframe.com, which would be updated for it "on the 25th". Founders have been on sale since Nov 25, 2025, with no end date as of Oct 21, 2026, and they are optional: players who had access before Founders keep it, and the weekly free invites continue. Twitch Drops

2:56 Digital Extremes often gives Preludes invites as Twitch Drops during its own streams: watch for 30 minutes with your Twitch and Soulframe accounts linked. At the start of Devstream 12 (Jan 30, 2026) the host tells viewers they can "earn an invite today by watching for 30 minutes", as long as they have "linked your Twitch and Soulframe account, which you can do on soulframe.com under account management". Spamming chat, the host adds, "will not do anything". Drops so far, as dated by Digital Extremes and its streams:

The next drop is not announced as of Oct 21, 2026; Devstream 18 (Oct 30, 2026, 3:30 p.m. ET) is the next stream (Devstreams).

Game Informer and event codes

2:00 Some codes came from outside Digital Extremes' own streams. Soulframe was the cover of Game Informer's issue 377, and every subscriber to that issue (subscribed by Apr 22, 2026) got a Preludes code, print subscribers on a postcard and digital ones by email; in Devstream 15 the hosts hold up the cover, "available worldwide". Attendees of TennoVIP (May 9, 2025), the PAX East Devstream 188 (May 10, 2025) and TennoCon 2026 got codes in person. Those offers have ended.

The open weekends

3:48 Twice, Digital Extremes let in everyone who had signed up. After TennoCon 2025, a host says in Devstream 9, "everyone that signed up before TennoCon was invited" (sign-ups before Sunday, Jul 20, 2025, 11:59 p.m. ET). The TennoCon 2026 Open Preludes Weekend did the same for sign-ups until Jul 12, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. ET, and "Preludes access granted during this time is permanent". If you signed up in time, the FAQ says: "you're in! Just log in and download the game." See Open Preludes.

Download and install

The game comes only from soulframe.com, through Digital Extremes' launcher: log in, then download from soulframe.com/en/download, which warns "Soulframe Preludes Access required to play". The minimum PC is 64-bit Windows 7, an Intel Core i7 860, Core i5 750 or AMD FX-4100, 8 GB of RAM, a DirectX 11+ graphics card, broadband and 50 GB of storage (System Requirements). If the installer fails, the FAQ suggests running it as an administrator. Steam has only a wishlist page, so a Steam key does not exist (Platforms).

Account security, streaming and wipes

Turn on EnvoyGuard, two-factor authentication at soulframe.com, and you get the Wanderquill Spirit Guide skin. Streaming and posting are allowed: Digital Extremes lifted the Preludes NDA on Nov 6, 2024, and the FAQ says "There is no embargo or restrictions on sharing your in-game experience".

6:36 Progress is kept. Asked in Nov 2025 whether there would be more resets, Sinclair answers "we're not going to do any resets", while warning that a reworked system may come with refunds or "like-for-like items" instead. The Founders FAQ says "there will be no more account resets in Soulframe Preludes"; the general FAQ only "aspire[s] to avoid future wipes". What to do once you are in is on Beginner's Guide.

How long does a Soulframe invite take? Digital Extremes publishes no waiting time: Soulframe invites are a random weekly draw among sign-ups, 2,000 a week as of Oct 21, 2026, so the wait varies.

Is Soulframe Preludes access free? Yes. Soulframe Preludes access is free through the weekly invite draw at soulframe.com or a friend's code; buying a Founders bundle is the optional paid route to instant access.

Is there a Soulframe Steam key? No. Soulframe cannot be played through Steam, so there are no Steam keys; Preludes codes are redeemed on soulframe.com and the game runs through Digital Extremes' launcher.

How old do you have to be to play Soulframe? One press report (TheGamer, Jul 2025) says Soulframe Preludes players must be 17 or older and accept a Participation Agreement; Digital Extremes' FAQ does not state an age.

Can I stream Soulframe? Yes. Digital Extremes lifted the Soulframe Preludes NDA on Nov 6, 2024, and its FAQ says there is no embargo or restriction on streaming or sharing gameplay.

Where do I redeem a Soulframe code? Soulframe codes are redeemed on the Redeem Code page at soulframe.com while logged in; Twitch Drop and Founders friend codes appear on your Account Management page.

Will Soulframe need an invite forever? No. Once Soulframe's Open Preludes begins, anyone on PC can sign up and play without an invite; it was announced on Oct 15, 2026 with no start date.
