System Requirements

Soulframe's minimum PC specs are 64-bit Windows 7, an Intel Core i7 860, Core i5 750 or AMD FX-4100 with SSE 4.2, 8 GB of RAM, a DirectX 11 graphics card, broadband and 50 GB of storage; recommended specs are not published, as of Oct 21, 2026.

Soulframe's minimum PC requirements are a 64-bit Windows 7 system with an Intel Core i7 860, Intel Core i5 750 or AMD FX-4100 processor ("SSE 4.2 support required"), 8 GB of RAM, a "DirectX 11+ capable Graphics Card", a broadband connection and 50 GB of available storage. Steam and soulframe.com's download page list the same specs. Digital Extremes has not published recommended specs, as of Oct 21, 2026: Steam's recommended block says only "Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system". The game runs on Windows PCs only (Platforms) and is in Preludes, its pre-alpha, so these numbers can change before a full release (Release Date).

Storage and download size

Soulframe needs 50 GB of free storage, the figure on both Steam and soulframe.com. The game is installed through Digital Extremes' launcher from the download page, which reads "Soulframe Preludes Access required to play"; an account without an invite or a Founders bundle can download the launcher but cannot play until access is granted (How to Get Preludes Access). Digital Extremes publishes no separate download size for the launcher or for each update, and since Preludes updates arrive every few months (Preludes Updates), the installed size grows over time; leave room beyond the 50 GB.

Internet connection

An internet connection is required: Soulframe is an online game with co-op for parties of up to four players, it signs in through soulframe.com, and both Steam and soulframe.com list a broadband connection in the minimum specs. There is no offline mode, as of Oct 21, 2026.

Graphics, upscaling and performance

Soulframe's graphics settings are still being worked on during Preludes. In Devstream 15 (May 29, 2026), the developers said Preludes 15 would bring "a very big upgrade to the draw distance", with the amount of grass close by doubled while running "at the same speed as the current" build, thanks to a switch to an instancing system for foliage. They added that Soulframe will "probably" get "the FSR 3.1 and um DLSS upgrade from our Warframe friends", "not guaranteed", because the two games share their technology on Warframe's schedule. As of Oct 21, 2026 Digital Extremes has not announced that FSR 3.1 or DLSS has arrived; Steam Deck HQ found FSR 2.2 in the settings in Dec 2025.

Preludes 13 changed sharpening and shading. Asked in Devstream 12 (Jan 30, 2026) to "elaborate on the visual and performance improvements", Sinclair said the game now uses AMD's sharpening, which stays configurable in the settings so it no longer creates "weird halos", and a new ambient occlusion system called visibility bitmasks that makes foliage look "a lot more defined". He also said the Warframe team had done "a big optimization pass" on the shader system that Soulframe would get in a later update.

Steam Deck and handhelds

Valve has not rated Soulframe for Steam Deck, since the game is not playable through Steam. Steam Deck HQ ran the soulframe.com build as a non-Steam game in Dec 2025: it called the default settings "nigh-on unplayable" and reached a near-stable 40 fps after lowering settings and turning on FSR 2.2. That was one outlet's test of an older Preludes build. Steam lists "Full controller support".

Languages

Steam lists 15 languages for Soulframe: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain), Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Simplified Chinese, Thai, Traditional Chinese, Turkish and Ukrainian. Only English has full audio. The Founders page warns that "the game may not yet be localized (voice and text) in your native language".

Why the minimum looks low

The published minimum is modest for a 2026 game, and Digital Extremes has not explained how it was chosen. Treat it as the floor for launching Soulframe Preludes, not as a promise of smooth play, until recommended specs are published; Steam Deck HQ's test above shows how much the settings matter on weak hardware.
