Twitch Drops: a Preludes invite for watching

Most Devstreams give a Preludes invite by Twitch Drop to anyone who watches for 30 minutes with linked accounts. At the start of Devstream 12 (Jan 30, 2026) the host explains it: "we do have Twitch drops running", spamming chat "will not do anything", and viewers must link their Twitch and Soulframe accounts at soulframe.com under Account Management to "earn an invite today by watching for 30 minutes". Digital Extremes first offered the invite drop for Devstream 7 on Apr 25, 2025 ("For the first time, earn a Soulframe Preludes Invite via Twitch Drop"), and drops also ran during Summer Game Fest 2025 and from Jul 17 to 24, 2026 for any stream in the Soulframe category, "Limited to one per account". Whether Devstream 18 carries drops has not been announced, as of Oct 21, 2026. Other ways in are on How to Get Preludes Access.

What happens on a Devstream

A Devstream mixes news, previews of the next update, live gameplay and a question-and-answer segment, and often announces dates. In Devstream 15 the team announces "a new trailer Friday, June 5th" at Summer Game Fest, "kind of an intro reintroduction to Soulframe", then the TennoCon Devstream "at 12 on Saturday, July 11th" with "award-winning voice actress Jennifer English, the voice of Empress" Alora, as its special guest. Questions are collected beforehand in an official forum thread and from chat.

The questions often reveal plans. Asked in Devstream 9 (Sep 12, 2025) whether trading would come, the team answers "Yes, eventually", adding "We don't have a timetable for that, but that is absolutely something we will want"; player trading arrived with Preludes 15 on Jun 10, 2026 (Co-op and Multiplayer).

TennoCon Devstreams

Three Devstreams have been held live at TennoCon, Digital Extremes' convention in London, Ontario: Devstream 1 (2024), Devstream 8 (2025) and Devstream 16 (Jul 11, 2026). The Devstream 16 video opens with the Soulframe logo on a stage screen above a full arena, the team on couches on a red-carpeted stage, and a cheering crowd. Its YouTube description promised a look back at Preludes, "a glimpse at where the world of Alca is heading next", and "special guest Jennifer English, the voice of the Empress of Eldveil"; its segments covered weapon Tempers, the mount and combat, Pacts, fishing and weather, a new enemy, and the Empress. TennoCon 2026 also opened the Open Preludes Weekend, which gave permanent access to everyone signed up by Jul 12, 2026. The live Warsongs demo itself ran later that day in TennoLive (Warsongs).

In the Empress segment of Devstream 16, the guest joins the couch while the screen shows concept art of two robed, crowned figures and then a sculpted model of the Empress, before cutting back to the panel. Jennifer English voices Empress Alora of Eldveil (Characters).

Envoy Hour

Envoy Hour is a second, lighter Soulframe stream series in which Sarah Asselin plays on a fresh account with a developer guest. She announces it in Devstream 9: a "6 week stream series" "every Tuesday starting September 23rd from 4 to 5:00 p.m." Eastern, "playing from a fresh account on public", because "we often get asked, 'What do I do in this game?'" Digital Extremes' Devstream 9 post calls it "a new six-episode livestream series" with "a rotating band of [DE]veloper guests". After that first run it returned on Feb 10, 2026, with later episodes featuring Combat and Weapon Designer Joe Buck (Apr 21, 2026) and Sheldon Carter (May 26, 2026).

Envoy Hour #6 (Nov 5, 2025) shows the format: "Welcome back to Envoy Hour ... our Soulframe stream series", Asselin says, "playing through Soulframe on a fresh, brand new account every week alongside some development guests", and introduces Associate Art Director Rosa Lee, "an integral part of creating the beautiful world of Soulframe and some of its earliest concepts". The episode then plays The Shewolf Snared and the Bita's Eve festival (Fables and Quests).

Soulshorts

Soulshorts are short sit-down talks posted between Devstreams. In "Soulshorts 8: Post-TennoCon Recap and Soulframe Preludes 16!" (Aug 18, 2026), three members of the team sit on a couch in front of crowded shelves for the whole 17-minute video; its description says the team "took a moment to discuss more details post-TennoCon and talk more about our updates on Preludes 16" (Preludes 16).
