Warsongs

Warsongs is Soulframe's next Fable (story quest), shown at TennoCon 2026 on Jul 11, 2026 and promised for "later this Fall" with no date; it is not out as of Oct 21, 2026. Digital Extremes calls it "a lost history of you, Envoy", and it brings the rival Envoy Tempest Bayor (voiced by Ben Starr) and the corrupted Vadagar Pact, which draws on the Vespers Doom, Death and Wrath instead of Virtues.

Warsongs is Soulframe's next Fable, a story quest that Digital Extremes showed at TennoCon 2026 on Jul 11, 2026 and promised for "later this Fall", with no date; it is not in the game as of Oct 21, 2026 (Digital Extremes, Jul 14, 2026). Digital Extremes calls it "A Fable [told] across time and a lost history of you, Envoy" that "will be key to laying out your journey, where you came from, and what is at stake" (TennoCon 2026 recap). It introduces Tempest Bayor, a rival Envoy sworn to the Ode and played by Ben Starr, and the Vadagar Pact, a corrupted path of progression. Its official trailer, the video on soulframe.com's home page, opens on a pale tent in the mist, then an armored warrior in a burning battlefield, a woman in pale gold armor lit by fire, and a weeping bearded man, before strange shapes hang in a hazy sky. The next chance of a date is Devstream 18 on Oct 30, 2026; the game's wider release is on Release Date.

Release date

Warsongs has no release date. At TennoCon on Jul 11, 2026, Digital Extremes announced it as "Soulframe's latest Fable quest, Warsongs, coming later this Fall" (Jul 14, 2026), and PCGamesN reported the timing as "Fallish" (Jul 11, 2026). Preludes 16: Of Hook & Hound, released Sep 18, 2026, did not include it, and the Open Preludes announcement of Oct 15, 2026 does not mention it (Digital Extremes, Oct 15, 2026). Digital Extremes' next stream, Devstream 18 on Oct 30, 2026 at 3:30 p.m. ET, is billed to cover "Open Preludes and what's next for Soulframe". Each update so far is on Preludes Updates and the next phase on Open Preludes.

A personal story

Warsongs turns the story toward the Envoy. In Devstream 15 (May 29, 2026), the developers show a short, unfinished animation, and one explains that while most quests so far have been "about things you need to do in the world to make it better", the next one is "a bit more personal" and gives "a bit more insight into the player". Digital Extremes' recap later named it: a Fable that lays out "where you came from" (TennoCon 2026 recap).

Its themes are darker on purpose. "Growth does not truly occur without a certain level of despair and fear," Crookes said at TennoCon: the studio's stories have "focused a lot on redemption", and Warsongs explores "a smidge of that contrast" (Digital Extremes, Jul 14, 2026). PCGamesN reported that Crookes and CEO Steve Sinclair framed it as "the darkest Soulframe has ever been" (Jul 11, 2026). The rest of the plot so far is on Story.

The demo at TennoCon

Digital Extremes showed Warsongs as a live gameplay demo in TennoLive, its TennoCon showcase. Its summary: "Meet Bayor, an Envoy like yourself but sworn to Synod and the Ode. Venture back to memories of your past childhood with Doyen. Ride into the fray on wolf-back as you confront the threat in the present. Embrace the corruption of the Vadagar as a new path to progression in Soulframe" (TennoCon 2026 recap). Doyen is the Envoy's grandfather: the demo's fishing scene recalls "forgotten childhood pastimes of lakeside fishing with Grandfather Doyen" (Digital Extremes, Jul 14, 2026), a pastime that became playable in Preludes 16 (see Fishing). Press who watched described the Envoy's mother at the start, a baby carried down a river, and short stretches in which players control both Bayor and the mother (But Why Tho, Jul 14, 2026); Digital Extremes has not confirmed those details in its own posts.

PCGamesN's Lauren Bergin found it "cohesive, exciting, and finally gives us a real look at what the finished product can be", after earlier demos that felt like "disparate parts of a whole" (Jul 11, 2026). Riding the wolf in the demo does not mean mounts are in the game: as of Oct 21, 2026 the wolf is a pup companion that Digital Extremes says will grow into a mount (see Wolf Pup and Mounts).

Tempest Bayor

Tempest Bayor was announced in a joke video at the end of Devstream 15. Ben Starr, the actor, says he wore Digital Extremes down "after years of banging on the door" and is "coming to Soulframe" as Tempest Bayor, "a mysterious and dare I say it, sexy sexy character" to be seen at TennoCon 2026, who "is going to reveal a lot more about your past". The developers say the session was already recorded.

Digital Extremes' description: "a rare red-armed Envoy, he aligns himself with the invading Ode forces with the support of his faithful raven companion. His motivations are unknown", and he is "one of Soulframe's main rivals to the player" (Jul 14, 2026). Bayor is not playable or fightable in the game as of Oct 21, 2026. The Ode he serves and its lord, Synod, are on The Ode; the full cast is on Characters.

The Empress of Eldveil

The Empress also has a part. In the TennoCon 2026 Devstream, the stage screen shows concept art labeled "Empress of Eldveil": a tall robed figure with a staff, then a finished model of her from front and back. Jennifer English, who voices her, was a guest on that Devstream (TennoCon 2026 recap). Digital Extremes said Bayor's motivations are unknown, "but the Empress of Eldveil, portrayed by Jennifer English (Clair Obscur: Expedition 33) in her first in-game appearance, seems to know more" (Jul 14, 2026). Her name is Alora: "Ruler of the ancient race of Fey with the same moral compass as nature itself: whim. Song is the source of her power" (Digital Extremes, Nov 16, 2025).

The Vadagar Pact and the Vespers

The Vadagar Pact was teased before TennoCon. The gameplay trailer of Jun 5, 2026, a narrated poem over fights in Midrath, ends its verse: "Three Virtues, known... not all we cast. For wrath and doom and death are last." In Devstream 15 the developers had said the trailer holds "a little poetic tease" of what was coming at TennoCon.

At TennoCon Digital Extremes named it: Omen Beasts become Vadagar "when trapped in Ode'n ichor", "and the Envoy is no different. Mired in corruption, you will draw power from your Vespers instead of Virtues: Doom, Death, and Wrath" (TennoCon 2026 recap). Its abilities, per the press release, "toss exploding boomerangs, call forth ensnaring tendrils, or summon a stampede of corrosive steeds that leave behind murky pools in their wake" (Jul 14, 2026). Sinclair called Vadagar "the edgelord aspect" (CGMagazine, Jul 11, 2026), and Wccftech reported that the developers do not see it as a rigid good-or-evil choice (Jul 11, 2026). The Vadagar Pact and the Vespers are not in the game as of Oct 21, 2026. Today's Pacts and Virtues are on Pacts and Virtues.

The trailers

The first look came in March 2026. Digital Extremes' "TennoCon 2026 Warsong Teaser" (Mar 28, 2026), published with its Devstream 13 overview, opens on the same pale tent in the mist, then shows a woman in white and gold armor holding a sword in a burning hall, and a dark-haired woman in armor whose arm glows, standing at night before a ruined castle.

The teaser ends on a wolf. A huge white wolf rises under the dark-haired woman and carries her up into the grass, before the closing card: "Join us at TennoCon".

The TennoCon 2026 trailer ends in battle. After scenes of play in Midrath (an archer at a camp, an Envoy at a cage of white rabbits), a woman in green-lit armor raises a glowing arm, a figure in black swings a long staff through the dark, and a red light flares, before the card "Together, set them free" and "Wishlist on Steam". All of Soulframe's trailers are on Trailers.

"Silver Eyes"

The demo's song was released on Jul 28, 2026 with a music visualizer: "Silver Eyes", "A duel that spans time, a duet that ties two so opposed", sung by Lorelei Marcell and Ben Starr, with lyrics co-written by Steve Sinclair (Digital Extremes, Jul 28, 2026). Composer Keith Power writes Soulframe's songs; the soundtrack is on Music.

The earlier "Warsongs"

The name is older than the Fable. The game's opening quest is the Warsongs Prologue, whose "choices ... will decide your starting visage" (Digital Extremes, Feb 12, 2026). And Digital Extremes described Preludes 8 (January 2025), which added Orengall's Fable, as bringing "an early version of Warsongs, Orengall's Fable" (Dec 18, 2024). That Fable is now The Shewolf Snared, and the wolf from it is the one players will ride. The Fables are listed on Fables and Quests.
