A Pact in Soulframe is a bond with an Omen Beast or an Ancestor that gives the Envoy three Arcanic abilities, one for each Virtue (Courage, Spirit, Grace), plus passives. The Pacts so far are Orengall, Bromius, Duelo and three Wyld Pacts; the Vadagar Pact is announced but not out as of Oct 21, 2026.
A Pact in Soulframe is a bond with an Omen Beast or an Ancestor that gives the Envoy three Arcanic abilities, one tied to each Virtue (Courage, Spirit and Grace), plus passive effects; you swap Pacts freely between Loadouts. In Devstream 12 of Jan 30, 2026, the developers show the Pact abilities "aligned to the courage, spirit, and grace" on the HUD and explain that each Virtue now scales only its own power, and why Virtues are kept separate from the Pact: tying them together would leave the weapons and armor you collected for one Pact useless with another, while separating them allows "a courage Bromius or a spirit Bromius". Steam's store page puts it in one line: "The bonds you forge with Omen Beasts manifest as Pacts, granting Arcanic abilities". The Pacts released so far are Orengall, Bromius, Duelo and the three Wyld Pacts, as of Oct 21, 2026; the Vadagar Pact is announced and not yet playable.

How Pacts work
Each Pact carries three Arcanic abilities and passives. Digital Extremes' writeup of the Duelo Pact shows the pattern: a "Courage Arcanic", a "Spirit Arcanic", a "Grace Arcanic" and two passives (Devstream 13 overview, Mar 30, 2026). Since Preludes 13 (Feb 12, 2026), the Envoy's Courage scales only the Courage Arcanic, Spirit only the Spirit one and Grace only the Grace one, so a Pact plays differently with each build; "Spirit Bromius is actually really fun to play", one developer says on the same stream. How you set your Virtues is on Virtues.
Pacts sit in Loadouts beside weapons and armor: Steam's page says you can "Swap freely between Weapons, Pacts, and Loadouts you've earned so far". The Pacts were reworked in Preludes 9 (Devstream 6, Mar 27, 2025), and Crookes compared them in 2023 to Warframe's frames (CGMagazine, Aug 28, 2023); more on the sister game is on Soulframe vs Warframe.
Trying and changing Pacts
New Envoys "test Spirit, Courage, and Grace Pacts in the Nightfold before committing to their path", since Preludes 12 (Nov 2025) (Devstream 11 overview, Nov 16, 2025). Later you can switch: "if you are looking to switch Enclaves (Factions) or Pacts, this can be done in-game once you have progressed far enough", says Digital Extremes' FAQ (read Oct 20, 2026). Loadouts are changed in The Nightfold.
Orengall
Orengall's Pact came with Preludes 8 (Jan 22, 2025), the first Pact from an Omen Beast: "By silvern pelt, a pact is dealt. With Preludes 8, the Omen Shewolf Orengall makes her debut at last" (Digital Extremes, Dec 5, 2024). It is earned through her Fable, The Shewolf Snared, which since Preludes 16 also gives you a wolf pup (see Wolf Pup and Mounts). Digital Extremes has not published a list of Orengall's current Arcanics in its news posts; the patch notes cover them.
Bromius
The Bromius Pact, from the Arbearer Bromius, arrived with Preludes 11 on Oct 8, 2025, and its three Arcanics are Rump Thump, Wevetroot and Song of Growth (Devstream 9 overview, Sep 15, 2025). In Devstream 9 of Sep 12, 2025, the designer describes Rump Thump as "a big AoE attack" with two radii, an inner one that deals more damage and a bigger one that breaks enemies' stability, "good for like dropping a group of AI's stability down quickly"; it has also become "a bit of a traversal mechanic". The second power, Wevetroot, "grabs nearby enemies and holds onto them for a little bit" for crowd control and damage over time.
Bromius is a Pact about armor. Rump Thump's damage "also scales off your armor"; the passives shatter enemy armor and buff your own and reflect damage; and Song of Growth, a callback to the Fable, is an armor-buff aura "for you and for nearby allies", so the three "all kind of work together to boost your armor value so you can do bigger rump thumps". Bromius' Pact is earned through The Waste Bear, "The Fable of the Arbearer Bromius" (Preludes 11); his story is on Omen Beasts.
Duelo
Duelo is a Pact "born of the Ancestor Carmo", added in Preludes 14: The Duelo on Apr 17, 2026. Digital Extremes' teaser of Mar 28, 2026 shows an Envoy at a broken shipwreck on a forest shore, a slim blade planted in the sand, then on the deck of a ship at sea before the title card.
Its abilities, as Digital Extremes lists them (Devstream 13 overview):

To earn it, complete The Steelsinger, then The Wreck of Mestra Carmo: collect ribbons from shipwrecks along Midrath's coast, have Tuvalkane tie them into the Duelo Bow, return to answer the duels, and "receive the Fragment to craft the Duelo Pact and signature Navalha Long Blade" (Preludes 14, Apr 17, 2026). The Wyld Pacts
The three Wyld Pacts came with Soulframe Founders and Preludes 12 on Nov 25, 2025, each from a Fey champion: Wyld Tethren "embodies the Virtue of Courage", Wyld Sirin is "a Fey assassin without peer", "ever with arrow ready-nocked", and Wyld Oscelda is "a Fey healer" who calls on Alca's magick (Founders, read Oct 20, 2026). In the Founders FAQ video of Nov 19, 2025, CEO Steve Sinclair says the Wylds would get added shoulder pieces and a gameplay mechanic: when you soul-steal the matching Virtue, "an embedded virtue gem" lights up and boosts that Virtue, and you lose it if you fall in battle.
You get a Wyld Pact today by buying its Founders bundle (Paragon includes all three), but Digital Extremes' Founders page says the Wyld Pacts, weapons and talismans will return after Founders ends, while only the Paragon Greatsword stays exclusive. Prices and contents are on Founders Packs.
The Vadagar Pact (announced)
The Vadagar Pact was unveiled at TennoCon 2026 on Jul 11, 2026 and is not in the game as of Oct 21, 2026. In the TennoCon Devstream's "Pact and ability updates" segment, a development build's Pact screen shows an armored Envoy beside a new spiked emblem labeled "Death". Digital Extremes' recap explains: "Mired in corruption, you will draw power from your Vespers instead of Virtues: Doom, Death, and Wrath" (TennoCon 2026 recap, Jul 11, 2026). Its powers include exploding boomerangs, ensnaring tendrils and corrosive steeds (Digital Extremes, Jul 14, 2026). It is due with the Warsongs Fable, which Digital Extremes promised for "later this Fall"; Sinclair called the Vadagar path "the edgelord aspect" (CGMagazine, Jul 11, 2026).
Which Pact is best?
Digital Extremes ranks no Pact above another, and its systems are built so that any Pact can work with any Virtue: the developers made that change in Preludes 13 because "courage is mostly the only thing to invest in" before it. Pick by role: Bromius for armor and crowd control, Duelo for bleeds, clones and a pistol shot, a Wyld Pact for its Virtue. Builds change often during Preludes (see Preludes Updates).

Tempers and CraftingSince Preludes 15 (Jun 10, 2026), Soulframe's weapons drop fully crafted with Tempers, random buffs that you refine with Ingots at the blacksmith Tuvalkane's forge. Since Preludes 16 (Sep 18, 2026) you can dismantle weapons to reclaim their Tempers and retune eligible Legendary weapons with them.

Development HistoryDigital Extremes announced Soulframe at TennoCon on Jul 16, 2022, opened its first closed pre-alpha test in Dec 2023 and has developed it in public through Preludes updates since; the promised fall 2024 public opening and a hoped-for 2025 launch both slipped, and there is no release date as of Oct 21, 2026.
