The Nightfold

The Nightfold is the Envoy's home in Soulframe, a realm of the Ancestors entered from anywhere on Midrath, where you change Loadouts and meet Verminia (customization and elixirs), Tuvalkane (the forge), Orlick the Bicameral (research) and Zenith (wares). Digital Extremes said in Dec 2025 that "The Nightfold will grow in purpose" in 2026.

The Nightfold is the Envoy's home in Soulframe: the place of your Ancestors, which you enter from anywhere on Midrath to change your Loadout and visit the residents who dye and refit your armor, forge your weapons, research the island's lore and sell their wares. Steam's page says weapons and Pacts are swapped outside combat "via the Nightfold" (Steam). Digital Extremes plans more for it: in Devstream 12 (Jan 30, 2026) the team named "our Nightfold Ancestor upgrade system", promised "some big stuff happening with the Nightfolds this year", "a little bit of a progression system", and suggested "helping Orlick build up his station" to learn more about "your Nightfold guests".

What you do there

The Nightfold is where you prepare. You swap weapons and Pacts in your Loadouts, and since Preludes 12 new Envoys "test Spirit, Courage, and Grace Pacts in the Nightfold before committing to their path" (Digital Extremes, Nov 16, 2025). You bring things home too: the Agaric mushroom an Agari leaves behind is ferried "back to the Nightfold" to brew The Cogah, the hard-mode elixir, with Verminia (same source), and fish you catch can go "to the Nightfold to create snacks for your cub" (Digital Extremes, Sep 4, 2026).

Getting there takes a held button. In Devstream 9 (Sep 12, 2025) the developers said "we have a press and hold added to enter our Nightfold" in Preludes 11, "to save the accidental Nightfold", after players kept slipping into it by mistake. Leaving puts you back where you were in the open world, GameLuster reported in its preview (Jul 30, 2025).

The residents

The Nightfold's residents are Ancestors and helpers you meet through the story:

Verminia's station keeps growing. In Devstream 12 a host confirms "there is more customization coming to Verminia" over a work-in-progress screen, and Preludes 13 brought new hairstyles, faces and hair colors to her (Digital Extremes, Feb 12, 2026).

Zenith's shop drew complaints before it opened. In the Founders FAQ video of Nov 19, 2025, Steve Sinclair and Sarah Asselin address "negative reactions to Zenith", after a preview showed Dracs sold for Arcs, and say some of it was placeholder and that Dracs for Arcs would not be in the release. What Arcs buy is on Free to Play and Arcs.

The Ancestors

The Ancestors are the souls the Envoy frees, and the Nightfold is where they gather. Soulframe's home page asks who will "find the Silvern Seas and awaken our Ancestors" (soulframe.com); Mestra Carmo, the Ancestor of the Duelo Pact, returns "to the Silvern Sea" when her Fable ends (Digital Extremes, Apr 17, 2026). More of them are on Characters.

Since Preludes 14.5 they also come out to meet you. In Devstream 15 (May 29, 2026) a developer explains that the Ancestors and Omen Beasts you rescue "kind of disappear after you do that", so now one spawns in the woods near where you log in, offering upgrades that last the day and sometimes gifts for crafting; the more you free, the more "begin to appear around you and help you". Digital Extremes calls these boons Grace.

The Eternium Gardens

The Eternium Gardens are communal Fey gardens tied to the Nightfold. Each Founders pack lets you plant a flower bearing your Envoy name "betwixt the Nightfold" (Digital Extremes, Nov 16, 2025). Asked whether players can choose a garden instance, the Founders FAQ answers that new empty instances open as gardens fill, so friends can plant in the same spot. The packs themselves are on Founders Packs.

The wolf pup

Your wolf pup lives with you. Closing Envoy Hour #6 (Nov 5, 2025), Sarah Asselin says that finishing The Shewolf Snared Fable "is how you get your very own puppy" who joins you in the Nightfold. Since Preludes 16 you bond with it through fetch, walks, fish and fights (Digital Extremes, Sep 18, 2026); see Wolf Pup and Mounts.

Where it came from

The Nightfold began as a tent. Digital Extremes' 2023 gameplay video, from an early build, shows the Envoy walking up to a lamp-lit tent by the water and, inside, talking with an armored figure while menus open. MMORPG.com described that demo's "Nightfold Tent", a hub for changing class and talking with Ancestors that grows into their village (Aug 26, 2023). That is the 2023 design, not today's.

The 2026 plans and housing

Digital Extremes' look ahead to 2026 said: "Virtues will matter more. The Nightfold will grow in purpose." (Dec 18, 2025) Its Devstream 12 summary listed "A Nightfold Ancestor upgrading system" (Feb 1, 2026), which had not arrived by Preludes 16.

There is no housing or decorating system as of Oct 21, 2026. The nearest hints are concept art in Devstream 12 of "a prop for displaying your armor and stuff in the Nightfolds", and a later answer in the same stream that a profile is planned, "looking through all your good deeds at a certain spot in the Nightfold". Neither has a date.
